STILLWATER, Okla. – Aug. 24, 2016 – Home Away, a Christian-influenced group home, opens next week, on Sept. 1, to begin accepting underprivileged and at-risk teenagers into its program.

This year in the Stillwater community, there have been 22 court cases regarding teenage abuse and 17 documented run-away teenagers. Home Away will provide a safe place for kids 13-18 years old to find healing, direction and restored faith.

Home Away is a free program, funded entirely by donation and government agencies that may place residents in its care. For young people dealing with neglect, abuse or addiction, there will be opportunity for counseling and medical care. There will be volunteer and educational opportunities through which residents can develop skills necessary to live independently.

Blair Jones, local business owner and Home Away volunteer, recognizes that the program will not be successful without volunteers and support from the Stillwater community.

“I’ve donated, volunteered and prayed over this organization and still want to give more to the program. I would encourage everyone in the community to take part in the mission of Home Away,” Jones said.

Madi Meister, Home Away founder and CEO, has high hopes for the success of the program.

“My hope is to provide a light in a dark place for kids,” Meister said. “I want to fearlessly face the brokenness that exists in this community, and I think both kids and volunteers will really benefit from it.”

Home Away is a response to broken homes, child abuse, teenage pregnancy and drug and alcohol abuse in the community. The organization encourages the Stillwater community to get involved.
